The Journey Here
What motivated you to start working at TAIMATSU?
I first heard about TAIMATSU in November 2025 as I participated in the GajinPot fair job. What really struck me was how well the company was presented compared to other companies. I have a master's degree in arts and cultural management, and I used to be a manager at my old job. Japanese knives are definitely a part of Japan’s cultural heritage, and I couldn’t wait to use my knowledge in art marketing to promote them, especially since I would have used the concept of art infusion which, at least in Korea where I lived for 5 years, has proven to be a very efficient marketing strategy.
Life at Taimatsu
What experience are you most proud of?

We recently implemented a new system where we can see who makes mistakes while packing the transfers. And I am proud to say that since this system has been implemented (maybe 2 weeks ago), my mistake rate is 0%. Some of my colleagues made some mistakes, but I am proud to say that every transfer I packed was mistake-free.

What Surprised Me
What does a typical day look like for you at Taimatsu?
A typical day for me at Taimatsu would be to join my team around 9 am, then we divide the work between our transfer team members. Usually, as 2 of the team members start packing me and another colleague start making the transfer list that wasn't prepared the day before, or add new requests that might come in late from the stores.
Beyond the Role
What do you enjoy most about your team?

I really like my people from my division. I know I can trust them and communicate with them openly, which created a strong connection bond within our team. When the work gets hard, what motivates all of us to come is definitely the support and care we feel for each other. Trust within the workplace is something really important and valuable for me, as trusting your colleague to do the work when you are not here is, in some way, a huge relief, and it takes off some of the unnecessary pressure you might feel.
If You're Thinking of Joining
What's something about working here that surprised you?

I think what surprised me the most about Taimatsu is the people working here. Everyone is so unique with so many different assets and backgrounds, it feels really refreshing. I have encountered so many hard-working people here who have so many different abilities. I think everyone would agree that one of the true strengths of Taimatsu is the people working here.

About you
Could you tell us about your background and where you are from?
My name is Nina, I come from Normandy in France, but I lived 5 years in South Korea, and I have been traveling in Asia on my own since I was 17 years old. I have a bachelor's in Linguistics, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Economics from Le Havre University in France, and I have an Arts and Cultural Management degree from Hongik University in South Korea. I am quadrilingual, and I won an international prize for my research in marketing strategies after finishing my degree. I then worked as a doctoral school manager for the University of Paris, where I managed between 100 and 150 PhD students.
Outside the work
What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and do you have any favorite places you often visit?

I love to create jewellery, and I often design and make my own. I also enjoy traveling, painting, writing, reading, and watching different cultural products. One of my favorite places to go in Tokyo is Ikebukuro.
