The Journey Here
What motivated you to start working at TAIMATSU?
I was primarily drawn to TAIMATSU due to my interest in Japanese culture and craftsmanship. I also like working with food-related products, and coming from a retail background, it felt like a good match where I could use some of my previous experience while learning something new.
Life at Taimatsu
What is the most memorable experience you have had in this job?

One day that stands out is when we had to prepare and ship more than 100 mangoes to our business partners in a matter of hours. It was a bit unexpected and slightly chaotic at first, but also one of those situations that ends up being quite memorable afterwards.

What Surprised Me
In what ways do you feel you have grown the most through your work?
I’ve learned a lot about knives and the craftsmanship behind them, which has been really interesting. At the same time, working here has taught me to handle change and figure things out as I go, especially in a company that’s been developing quickly.
Beyond the Role
What experience are you most proud of?

I think I’m most proud of becoming comfortable in a role that was quite new to me in the beginning, and gradually building both knowledge and confidence in the work.
If You're Thinking of Joining
What message would you like to share with people considering joining the company?

It’s a workplace where you meet people from different countries and backgrounds, which makes the environment quite varied. If you’re curious, open to learning, and interested in Japanese culture and craftsmanship, it can be a good place to gain new experiences.

About you
Could you tell us about your background and where you are from?
I’m from Sandvika, just outside Oslo in Norway, and I have a degree in Construction Engineering. During my studies, I had a part-time job in a kitchenware store, where I got interested in knives, glassware, and product quality in general. My working experience before joining TAIMATSU could be summarized as working for a few years as a Project Manager/Coordinator in the retail industry, mainly with building and renovating stores. I was often involved from early planning through to completion, working closely with different teams and partners. I worked on projects for brands like Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Nespresso, L’Oréal, Aesop, TOMWOOD, and H&M, which gave me a lot of practical experience in how projects come together in real life. Looking back, that combination of hands-on product experience and project work is actually a big part of why I ended up here.
Outside the work
What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and do you have any favorite places you often visit?

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with music, both playing and creating, and I enjoy exploring Tokyo’s music scene, as well as museums and cafés. When I have the time, I like getting out of the city to see other parts of Japan, and I also enjoy hiking.
