The Path Here
Could you tell us about your career so far and why you decided to join TAIMATSU?
I originally joined TAIMATSU over a year ago and, truthfully, I did not expect to be in the position I am today. My initial motivation for joining the company was its unconventional office structure. As a startup, TAIMATSU had only around 50 employees when I joined, which created a more intimate work environment where employees could collaborate closely with managers and executives. Unlike a traditional office, there was less formality and more of a welcoming atmosphere. This type of environment encourages personal growth and allows employees to discover new paths within the company. These qualities drew me to TAIMATSU and ultimately led me to become a lead within my division.
Leading the Day
What kinds of decisions and responsibilities do you take on as a manager on a daily basis?

Since moving into a manager position, I have found myself becoming one of the key connections between many different divisions. This role has allowed me to help my team grow in a variety of ways. Currently, we are working closely with the engineering team to develop applications that will automate many of the systems within our division. More importantly, this position has given me the opportunity to listen to my team members and find ways to make their workloads feel more manageable. While it can be challenging at times due to short deadlines or last-minute changes, my background in sports has helped me stay calm under pressure and bring that same steady energy to my team.

View from Both Sides
What differences or insights have you noticed between on-site work and management?
One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed between on-site work and management is the shift from focusing on my own tasks to overseeing the bigger picture. In on-site work, my priority was completing tasks accurately and efficiently. In management, the focus is on coordinating the team, setting priorities, and making sure everyone has the support they need to succeed. I’ve also learned how important clear communication is. Giving clear instructions and setting expectations helps the team work more smoothly and reduces mistakes. Overall, management has helped me better understand how individual actions impact the success of the entire team.
Defining Moments
What has been the most impactful project or decision you have been involved in?

Currently, I am part of a project to create a warehouse for our company. Right now, we are all able to work in the same building. However, as we continue to expand and bring on more staff, we will eventually need to move into a warehouse space. This project has taught me many new things, and it has been exciting to visit new spaces and imagine what we could do. There is a strong sense of accomplishment that comes from being involved in this project. It not only holds value in what we are building now but also creates excitement for the future. It has been amazing to see how quickly the company has grown in the short time I have been here. When I started, we only had five stores, and today we have over twenty. This growth makes me wonder what the future will hold and highlights the true value of this project.
Growing as a Leader
What do you feel has been your greatest growth as a leader?

After taking on the role of Product Division Leader, I became much more aware of the skills I still need to develop. One of the most important lessons I have learned is how to strike a balance between being a supportive leader with clear boundaries and creating an environment where team members feel comfortable opening up to me. At first, this was challenging because many of the people I worked with had become friends over time. However, by learning how to adjust my approach depending on the situation, I have developed the ability to be both fair and firm when necessary.

Looking Ahead
What challenges or goals would you like to take on at TAIMATSU in the future?
In the future, I would like to continue taking on challenges that allow me to grow as both a leader and a professional. One of my goals is to strengthen my ability to support the team more effectively while also improving operational efficiency across the company. I am also interested in becoming more involved in projects that contribute to TAIMATSU’s long-term growth. By taking on new responsibilities and continuing to develop my skills, I hope to make a broader contribution to the company and help create a positive impact for both the team and our customers.

Off the Clock
What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and do you have any favorite places you often visit?
Outside of work, I love spending time with my loved ones and friends, going to Pilates, and finding new cafés. Recently, I have really been enjoying spending time in Jiyugaoka. There are so many cute cafés, boutiques, and hidden spots that I wouldn’t normally come across in other areas of Tokyo. It has such a relaxed and charming atmosphere, and I really enjoy just walking around, trying different cafés, and discovering new places each time I visit.
