The Journey Here
What motivated you to start working at TAIMATSU?
I was motivated to start working at TAIMATSU because I found it very appealing to help expand a business that handles traditional Japanese craftsmanship, especially Japanese kitchen knives. I was excited by the opportunity to contribute to introducing and spreading high-quality Japanese products to a wider audience.
Life at Taimatsu
What is the most memorable experience you have had in this job?

My most memorable experience was being involved in negotiations to establish a store in France. I had never worked on such a large-scale project before, so it was a very valuable experience for me. Although the project unfortunately did not come to fruition, I was able to learn a lot and take on more responsibility than when I first started working, which helped me grow significantly.

What Surprised Me
In what ways do you feel you have grown the most through your work?
Through my work, I feel I have grown the most in my communication skills and my ability to take responsibility. I also learned how to handle challenges in a more flexible and calm way, especially when working on international projects.
Beyond the Role
What experience are you most proud of?

As I have not been with the company for a long time yet, I do not have a specific achievement I can highlight.
However, I am proud that I am able to be involved in the entire process of store development, including store planning and interior design. It is very meaningful for me to take part in creating a store from the ground up.
If You're Thinking of Joining
What message would you like to share with people considering joining the company?

I assume that everyone has strong energy and motivation to improve both the company and themselves. Because of that, you may sometimes find it challenging to keep up with the pace. However, I am sure that this environment will help you grow significantly and provide valuable learning opportunities.

About you
Could you tell us about your background and where you are from?
I am from Saitama, Japan. After graduating from university in Tokyo, I moved to Australia and worked at a coffee shop for almost two years. After that, I returned to Japan and started working at TAIMATSU.
Outside the work
What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and do you have any favorite places you often visit?

I really enjoy reading books while having coffee at a café on weekends. As I mentioned before, I used to work at a coffee shop, so I love coffee. Because of that experience, cafés have become one of my favorite places to relax and spend my free time.
