The Path Here
Could you tell us about your career so far and why you decided to join TAIMATSU?
I started out focused on design and digital experiences, and over time expanded into engineering and systems thinking. What drew me to TAIMATSU was the ability to shape things from the ground up. I wanted ownership and real impact rather than being one small piece of a large company. The cross-functional nature of my role here was difficult at first since it doesn't fit neatly into one discipline, but it's where I've grown the most.
Leading the Day
What kinds of decisions and responsibilities do you take on as a manager on a daily basis basis?

A lot of it is balancing speed against quality, figuring out where the team's resources are best spent, and trying to spot future risks before they grow into bigger problems. I spend time reviewing the direction of our websites and UX, thinking about long-term scalability rather than just what works right now. Honestly, it's less about making one or two big decisions and more about making many small ones every day that keep projects moving.

View from Both Sides
What differences or insights have you noticed between on-site work and management?
When I was doing more individual work, my focus was on execution. Now it's much more about removing obstacles so the team can move. The biggest shift has been going from "how do I solve this?" to "how can the team solve this?". I firmly believe great things can't be built alone; it takes more than personal output.
Defining Moments
What has been the most impactful project or decision you have been involved in?

Rebuilding our internal workflows and the architecture behind them has probably been the most impactful. The shift in my own thinking was focusing less on the "what" we were building and more on the impact it was going to have downstream.
Growing as a Leader
What do you feel has been your greatest growth as a leader?

Learning not to solve every problem myself and getting more comfortable with delegation. Thinking long term rather than reaching for the immediate fix, and understanding that people work differently from each other. Part of that has been learning to stop and question before building, especially when the foundation is still being shaped.

Looking Ahead
What challenges or goals would you like to take on at TAIMATSU in the future?
I want to build stronger digital experiences and position us as the strongest online presence in our space, with systems that are future-proof rather than constantly being patched. On top of that, I want to help the organization and the architecture grow together rather than letting one lag behind the other, which is essentially Conway's Law.
If You're Thinking of Joining
What message would you like to share with people considering joining the company?

Things move quickly here. People can take ownership early, ideas can directly influence the business, and it's a good environment for people who enjoy building. If you're someone who takes initiative and wants the chance to create real impact rather than following a process or working at the ticket level, you'll enjoy it here.
Beyond the Role
Could you tell us about your background and where you are from?

I was born in Tokyo and grew up in Toronto, Canada. I've always been interested in both design and technology, which shows up in the kind of work I gravitate toward. I came back to Japan a couple of years ago because I value lived experience and a bit of discomfort in my current life, rather than the stability and comfort that was waiting for me back home

Off the Clock
What do you enjoy doing outside of work, and do you have any favorite places you often visit?
Going to cafes and keeping up with what's happening in tech and design, the gym, and eating good food. My favourite place recently has actually been the 23rd floor of our office building, which is where the gym is!
